The Canterbury contingent of referees were recently lucky to receive some high level training and exemplars from Berthold Komduur of the Netherlands.

Berthold is a retired IKF referee with over 9 years refereeing experience at the top of the sport, and now focusses on training within the Netherlands and overseas. He recently led the All Stars team that visited the USA to demonstrate korfball.

Berthold focussed on referee positioning, appropriate usage of whistle and implementing advantage, and covered off a number of issues raised by the referees and coaches present.

Thanks to Berthold and Anja, who both took time out of their New Zealand holiday to visit, and also enjoy a light-hearted game of korfball within the Canterbury Outdoor competition. Unfortunately their holiday did not include the North Island, so there was no opportunity for them to visit the other regions.
