Korfball Canterbury hosts the first national provincial championship event of 2008 this weekend at Christchurch's Pioneer Stadium, with a record seven teams representing five different regions.
The host, reigning NPC champion Canterbury, and northern rival Auckland will both have an A and a B team competing, Wellington and Counties Manukau will be represented and for the first time an Otago team will participate in a Korfball New Zealand event.
Teams will play each other in a round-robin format, with 21 games through the course of the weekend, starting at 9am on Saturday and 8.45 on Sunday.
