Games went according to previous form on the first day of the latest Korfball New Zealand NZCT National Provincial Championship at Waitakere Trusts Stadium, Auckland today.
Auckland A and Canterbury both went through the day unbeaten, though both were pressed hard by the Counties-Manukau Y team of korfball newcomers, coached by former Silver Ferns netball coach Yvonne Willering.
The team of national and international level netballers showed how much they had learnt in their earlier games, comfortably putting away Auckland B in the afternoon by 21-10.
Wellington was competitive, particularly in the day’s final game against Canterbury, when they pegged the champion back in the second half after conceding a big lead in the first. Wellington promises also to make life interesting for Auckland A, and their game against the fast improving Counties Manukau Y team could also be an close one tomorrow.
