New Zealand recorded its second win at the Eighth Asia Oceania Korfball Championships in Zhuzhou, China on Wednesday, and will play off against India for fifth place in the tournament tomorrow.
Playing novices Pakistan, New Zealand achieved a comfortable 34-8 victory.
The win over Pakistan follows Monday’s 12-19 loss to Hong Kong, which left New Zealand outside the medal places. However, a win against India on Thursday should be enough to secure a place at next year’s World Championships: the fifth placed Asia Oceania team will be first reserve for the World Championships, and with a qualification tournament in Africa looking highly unlikely, Thursday's winner is likely to feature in the 2012 World Championship draw.
